Preplant Tillage and Precision Nutrient Placement System

Orthman is proud to introduce an effective extension to the already proven line of Orthman soil management, precision nutrient placement, and seedbed preparation in a single pass, strip-tillage tools. The Torline restricts field disturbance to less than 25% while the remaining 75% of the field surface is either covered or partially covered by residue or undisturbed soil. The tillage zone then provides a seedbed prepared for excellent seed to soil contact and growth potential. Orthman strip-till technology and research has culminated in the development of this highly versatile conservation tool designed for chemical incorporation and the preparation of the ideal seedbed in a single application. The Torline combines multiple operations to meet all preplant
objectives in a single pass while conserving moisture, soil, time, and money.

Row Unit Standard Equipment:

• Dual offset 18” or 22” fluted coulters initiate the strip-till application. The dual spring-loaded coulters, with the ability to swivel, downsize residue while reducing rearward tooling interference.
• A fluted in-line, spring loaded, center coulter cuts soil and sub-soil residue to eliminate residue hairpinning on the precision nutrient placement shank.
• High strength precision tillage shanks (16” or 18” knives) shatter compaction layers while incorporating fertilizer at one or two depths to provide plants with timely fertilizer access from germination through maturity.
• Rearward 16” notched spring loaded closing discs incorporate field residue, decrease soil variability, complete and firm the optimum seedbed.
• Heavy construction standard double 7” x 7” x 3/8” wall tubing provides the industry leading toolbar with the durability that over 40 years of Orthman customers are accustomed to.
• Standard gauge wheels (as pictured above) provide implement stability and precision toolbar height while relieving the tractor of having to carry the implement.
