Orthman Donates to Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation
Orthman Manufacturing presented a $3,000 check today to Marine Corps Corporal Charles Huntsman to support the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Foundation.
Huntsman, an employee of
Orthman as well as a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, worked
with the Company to raise the money over the holiday season.
Orthman purchased a 50” LCD TV, then Huntsman and 4 other
Marines- Gunnery Sergeant Carpio, Sergeant Beaverness, Sergeant
Kruse, and Corporal Stephens- sold raffle tickets to Orthman
employees and others to give the television away. About $1,500
worth of tickets were sold, and then Orthman Manufacturing
matched that amount and donated it to the Toys For Tots
Foundation.
The funds will be used to purchase and distribute toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the central Nebraska area. The goal of the Toys for Tots Foundation is to “deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.”
“This is a great cause, and we’re happy to be part of it,” said Orthman President John McCoy. “Charlie is a great employee, and his service, as well as his fellow soldiers, are the ones that deserve the credit. Many thanks go out to them and all of our generous employees for this opportunity to help.”
Corporal Huntsman said helping to provide a special gift for children that otherwise might go without is worth the effort. “The families here, and others in the area deserve this.” said Huntsman. “We don’t want to leave anyone out, are we are proud to help.” he said.
The cash received will be used to purchase toys later this year
